Louis Bacarisse is an Austin-based lawyer specializing in state government affairs. Louis has over 20 years experience in state government and politics, concentrated in the legislative arena. He has served in top policy positions for the former Speaker of the House, James E. PeteÓ Laney, as well as serving as Special Counsel to Lt. Governor Bob Bullock.
In 1982, Louis left state service to set up his own law and consulting practice. As a contract lobbyist, he has represented dozens of top corporations and many of the state's leading trade associations.
In addition to his legal and lobby clients, Louis has held faculty appointments at two of the state's top institutions of higher education. At Texas State University, he held the rank of Adjunct Professor of Political Science specializing in teaching American Government. He has also held the position of Lecturer in the Department of Government at the University of Texas at Austin, where he taught a course entitled Texas Elections and Political Parties. He is currently serving the UT College of Liberal Arts as a consultant for a documentary on the 1974 Texas Constitutional Convention.
